CTET 2026

Educational Qualification

• Paper I (Classes 1–5): Senior Secondary with at least 50% marks and a two-year Diploma in Elementary Education, or a four-year B.El.Ed., or a B.Ed. (Special Education).
• Paper II (Classes 6–8): Graduation with at least 50% marks and a B.Ed., or Graduation with a two-year D.El.Ed., or a four-year B.A./B.Sc.Ed.
• A 5% relaxation in the qualifying percentage applies to SC, ST, OBC (NCL) and differently abled candidates as per central government norms.

Age Limit

Minimum 18 years. There is no upper age limit for CTET.

Other Requirements

• Candidates in the final year of the required teacher-education programme may appear, subject to producing the result before recruitment.
• A candidate may appear for Paper I, Paper II, or both in the same session.

Fee is charged per candidate, not per attempt, and is non-refundable. Payment is accepted by debit card, credit card, net banking and UPI.

1. CTET Examination — Paper I and/or Paper II, each 150 objective questions for 150 marks.
2. Eligibility Certificate — candidates scoring 60% or above qualify and receive a CTET certificate valid for life.

• Each paper runs for 150 minutes; there is no separate timing per section.
• No negative marking.
• Qualifying marks are 60% (90 out of 150). Relaxation for reserved categories follows the norms of the state or authority accepting the certificate.
• The CTET certificate has lifetime validity.

Child Development & Pedagogy

Concept of development, Piaget, Kohlberg and Vygotsky, individual differences, inclusive education, learning and pedagogy, assessment and evaluation.

Language I & II

Reading comprehension, grammar and verbal ability, language acquisition, principles of language teaching, teaching–learning materials, remedial teaching.

Mathematics

Number system, addition and subtraction, geometry and shapes, measurement, data handling, pedagogical issues in mathematics.

Environmental Studies (Paper I)

Family and friends, food, shelter, water, travel, things we make and do.

Science & Social Studies (Paper II)

• Science: food, materials, the world of the living, moving things, natural phenomena, natural resources
• Social Studies: history, geography, social and political life, pedagogical issues

1. Visit the official CTET portal at ctet.nic.in.
2. Complete the online registration to receive your application number and password.
3. Fill the application form, choosing Paper I, Paper II or both, and your language options.
4. Upload your photograph and signature in the prescribed format and size.
5. Pay the examination fee online.
6. Submit the form and download the confirmation page for your records.
